I’m comparing 2 good wines to my mediocre dinner tonight. I hope you don’t mind.
I had the Lean Cuisine Salisbury Steak with Mac.&Cheese…cut me some slack…I’m working on a Halloween costume!
The 2 wines were: 2005 Peregrine Hills Chardonnay & 2005 Sebastiani Merlot. The Chardonnay was one of my picks I liked @ Grapefest. The Merlot was a gift (Thanks Bob!).
Chardonnay: Smell: Butter, Apricot, Pear
Taste: Apricot, Lemon
The Chardonnay enhanced the earthiness of the mushroom/onion gravy on the steak. As for the mac and cheese; it made it cheesier!
The Merlot: Smell: Black Cherry, Chocolate,Vanilla
Taste: Smoke, Black Cherry, Oak
The Merlot enhanced the meat more and made it heartier. It added a pepper taste to the mac and cheese.
Just to let you know…I cleansed my palate with Stacy’s Simply Naked Pita Chips, fantastic with ANY wine.
I think over-all I would pick the Chardonnay. How can you go wrong with something that makes something else cheesier!
I hope Y’all got a laugh. Who knows…Taco Bell might be next!
